The 2023 net minimum wage, which millions of employees are eagerly waiting for, has been announced as 8 thousand 500 TL.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confronted members of the press to announce the minimum wage to be applied in 2023. President Erdogan, in his statement, said that the minimum wage increased by 54 percent to 8 thousand 500 TL.
2023 Minimum Wage Becomes 8 thousand 500 TL
Let’s take a look at the decisions taken on the minimum wage in 2022. It was first increased from 2.825.90 TL to 4.253.40 TL in January 2022. After the global inflation destroyed the purchasing power of the employees, the minimum wage was increased in July. The minimum wage was net 5,500.35 TL in July, with an increase of approximately one hundred 30.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the minimum wage determined for 2023 as 8,500 net.
Erdogan used the following statements in his statement:
“As a result of a series of meetings, unfortunately, the employee and employer parties could not agree on a common point. We have made a sincere effort to reach a reasonable point of agreement between the parties. I wish we had the working part among us. If we encounter an unexpected picture, we will not hesitate to make an interim arrangement as it was this year. The net minimum wage increased by 54 percent to 8 thousand 500 TL. “
This year, the minimum wage process has come to the fore more than in previous years, due to high inflation and rising living costs.
